Cape Coral - our Hometown
is located on the Southwestern Gulf coast of Florida and is part of the
Lee Island Coast.
Cape Coral is a peninsula; two bridges over the Caloosahatchee River are
connecting the Cape, as citizens call it, with the city of Ft. Myers.
This area is one of the fastest growing areas in Florida and even in the
US - quite understandable if we consider the roundabout 350 days of
sunshine and the proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. Cape Coral's
population has reached approximately 160,000 so far, but density is not
a concern in a city of 115 square miles.
Cape Coral is a very young city - even for the US. In 1958 two brothers
by the name of Rosen made their dream come true and created a city out
of an undeveloped, not much paid attention to piece of land. In only a
couple of years Cape Coral became a desirable place to settle down and
developed into a fully grown town with shopping and dining opportunities
of all kinds.
More than 400 miles of canals - fresh- and saltwater - were artificially
created and quite a few of them are providing access to the gulf and the
tropical islands of the Lee Island Coast or to the river. These canals
invite especially our European guests to see a certain relationship to
Venice/Italy - even more since the style of homes and landscaping is
influenced by some Mediterranean ideas. Some of the little coffee shops
make you think you were sitting out in the sun on some Italian Piazza.
Thanks
to a nicely structured plat map Cape Corals neighborhoods are typically
divided by canals or lakes. Most houses are one-story homes painted in
pastel colors surrounded by tropical colorful landscaping and palm trees
and a lot of green space. Downtown Cape Coral provides a wide variety of
shops and restaurants. For all the watersport-lovers among you - this is
your city! Records show that more boats are registered in Cape Coral as
in every other City in the US - a lot of the Cape homes even have their
own dock with the boat waiting for you to set sail.
The Cape is the ideal spot to spend a vacation or stay for good - no
matter if you picture yourself in a boat cruising the gulf or having fun
in the sun at the beach, shopping or hiking through the mangroves -
there is something for everyone. Cape Coral - just Paradise - is the
slogan of our city and that's exactly what it is - and the best part is:
it's still affordable - ask us!
Lehigh Acres
approximately 25 minutes east of Ft. Myers is one more example for a fast
growing "little" city. A steady growth of about 15% each year has
brought LA's population up to ~ 50.000 by now. Thanks to the nearby
Interstate and US 41 Bonita Springs and Naples in the South as well as
the International Airport are only a short drive away. Lehigh Acres has
turned into a paradise for investors - houses and lots are still within
a very nice price range with a prospective of considerable profit.
Ft.
Myers
is famous for having been
Thomas A. Edison's and
Henry Ford's Winter-Residence, some of Edison's most famous inventions
came to life right here in Ft. Myers. The historic downtown district
with it's vintage homes, old Banyan Trees, art galleries and a wide
variety of cultural events invites you to spend some quality time.
Ft. Myers Beach, a little laid back beach community, is proud of its
fabulous white sandy beaches - simply being all a Florida vacation can
possibly be.
